physicians for social responsibility
believe in a nuclear-free Kansas City
The people deserve clean air, water, and land.
Nuclear weapons risk all of this and more.
Militarism is a public health crisis and we refuse complicity.
Who is PSRKC?

We are a local chapter of Physicians for Social Responsibility (PSR)
Guided by the values and expertise of medicine and public health, PSR seeks to protect human life from the gravest threats to health and survival: Nuclear harm and climate catastrophe. PSR mobilizes physicians, health professionals and non-physicians alike to advocate for climate solutions and speak against the harm of the nuclear industry. PSR’s advocates contribute a voice to environmental health and nuclear weapons policy at the local, federal and international level.
Nuclear weapons are internationally illegal
The US signed the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) in 1970, and has since been in violation due to the several major nuclear weapons manufacturing facilities in the US. This includes the Kansas City National Security Complex (KCNSC) which is operated by the contractor Honeywell on KC municipal land, and currently manufactures the mechanical/electrical components for nuclear weapons. Like the trigger to a gun, these integral parts make nuclear weapons possible. (Besides, since when has America ever honored a treaty?)
The Treaty on Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW) went into effect in 2021, and is ratified by most of the world. The United States however still invests millions of taxpayer dollars into nuclear weapons modernization, with little to no oversight or accountability to the communities their hired contractors operate in. The nuclear industrial complex has a long, violent history of environmental contamination as well as preventable illnesses and death among workers. Contractors seeking solely to enrich themselves while the working class suffers.
The voices of whistleblowers in this industry deserve to be amplified, not silenced; our communities deserve accountability and transparency from our government and the bloated contractors they enrich with our tax dollars.
